Hey hey hey - remember me?
I'm the guy that used to update his website with more than just songs here and there!
Well if you can't remember - nice to meet you, I'm Adam. A 32-year-old Vegan crazy person who works a lot and tries to please everyone while pleasing himself. And boy oh boy do I sure please myself.
So I wanted to update the website - not because I have anything to say really, but because I feel like this is my website and I'll write whatever the hell I want when I want, how I want.
It's been a fun (insert time here) since I last wrote anything here. I suppose I could talk politics or aliens or this or that but let's not bore each other - you don't care about politics, this isn't a News website, and I'm not an anchorman.
Can you believe we're actually opening another restaurant?
Yeah and I'm really fortunate to know all the right people in Welland, so I feel like we're joining the greater community as opposed to starting new somewhere else. Keep up to date over at Anything Incorporated.
I am still single, even though I have my very inviting dating profile "I Know You're Out There" online.
It's just not in the cards as of yet - but I'm still hopeful, I mean - she's gotta' be out there... right?
It's 10pm and I've worked all day - I may wander in and out here.
Other exciting news is that I've set up the Tama over at my buddy Rick's place and he is apparently itching to record some original music - which you know I'm all for. So it looks like this summer - surprise - will be full.
I've set a date next month to head out to the cottage in PEI, something I always look forward to.
Let's see, what else?
Did I tell you guys about my dad in Ottawa?
Haha - it's a lot to talk about, so maybe I'll just save the details for some other time, but he's safe and sound and that makes me happy. We're going up this weekend to have a look at how he's doing since he's been in the hospital for over a month now.
Ideally we will have him moved out soon, into a proper setting.
Parents - make sure you have a living will written out just incase - you never know what may happen, and you want to have it in clear writing what your will is should you happen to be hospitalized for whatever reason. Trust me on this one - make a living will.
Other than all that - I'm good - thanks for asking. I'd still like to squeeze out more time to make music, I'd really like to be able to play more than my usual handful of live acoustic shows this summer. I simply don't have time anymore for band stuff, I have no idea how we're even jamming over at Rick's place.
I'm pretty irritated about the S.C.E.N.E Music Festival lineup for this year. I have vented everything already on Twitter about how I feel - even had to block a promoter over my opinions - but I guess all I'm saying is that the original idea behind S.C.E.N.E was to showcase local talent. Over the years the Founders stepped aside and economics took over (in an "organic way" - uh huh).
You all know I love music regardless - so don't get your panties in a bunch if you're in a band that I was railing against - my whole point is go - go to my home city of St. Catharines and play, play all you want - play until you can't play anymore! But don't play at a festival that is supposed to be for local talent only if you're not from St. Catharines.
Clearly S.C.E.N.E is not focusing on local talent only anymore - and I don't want to get into the details of this and that or how I know what I know, and maybe I am just sentimental and outdated and maybe my ideas are nostalgic and obsolete - and maybe I am even simply whining to hear myself whine - it's just that I know - I mean I really know so many talented musicians in Niagara that would love to play a local festival dedicated to local music.
Maybe S.C.E.N.E isn't that anymore - and that's why I admit that I may be wrong - but I do know that this is what the original idea behind it was - not only that - but it was a win-win for all the local bars and pubs that would host bands, as their revenue and exposure would go up during the festival, not like these days where the "Main Event Stage" will be contained inside Montabello Park - but hey, what the hell do I know about the restaurant industry or my hometown of St. Catharines - clearly nothing. You're right, I'm wrong.
St.Catharines Event for New Music Entertainment - SCENE
I'm not going to name names - you all know very well which headliners aren't New Music, and aren't even from Ontario, let alone St.Catharines.
And me and my friends bands have played S.C.E.N.E before, so don't think I'm just jealous or envious.
No, I'm just opinionated.
I'm going to take matters into my own hands and start a music festival called, "Musicians United in Sound In st.Catharines" - M.U.S.I.C - and only have bands from South Korea, Japan, India and Mexico play - no one else. It will be a big hit, and I'll let everyone know how it's boosting the local economy and supporting local artists simply because it's in St. Catharines.
Anyway - I'm boycotting S.C.E.N.E from now on, you do whatever you want.
Maybe someone should just change the name of the "festival" from S.C.E.N.E to "Bands From Earth".
That has a nice ring to it.
Alright well - that's the update.
I'm still Vegan, still completely sober - even gave blood and urine to prove it, and still working like a crazy person.
Hug someone!
